Hungary Removes Use of Russian Assets from EU Permanent Representatives' Discussion

Hungary has removed one of the most pressing issues of EU economic policy from the discussion.

On Wednesday, September 4, a meeting of permanent representatives of the EU countries will take place.

On the eve of this event, it became known that Hungary had decided to cancel the consideration at the meeting of the issue of using income from frozen Russian assets.

A presentation by the European Commission on this topic and an exchange of opinions were expected. But this item was removed from the meeting agenda, RIA Novosti reports.

During the meeting, they will discuss the summit of the EU Council and the Gulf States scheduled for October 2024.

Discussions about plans to extract some benefit from Russian assets or even confiscate them have been ongoing since 2022

So far, European politicians have agreed to use the proceeds from Russia's frozen assets in the EU.
