In Finland, they talked about how Russian business had a positive impact on the Finnish company Finnvera.
The lender expected that Russian companies would be unable to repay their debts due to sanctions.
However, as reported by the Finnish portal Yle , losses were avoided because the companies are fulfilling their obligations properly.
This information was confirmed to Finnish media by the head of the company's major client department, Jussi Haarasilta.
It is noted that initially it was a significant amount. As of the end of 2021, Russian businessmen owed about 1 billion euros.
At the same time, despite the sanctions, by the end of 2022 the amount of debt had decreased more than twofold - to 420 million euros.
As of the end of 2023, the debt of Russian businesses is less than 100 million euros.
As Haarasilta noted, the debt repayment was ultimately successful, although Finnvera believed that the process could be delayed.
