The current situation in the Russian economy is forcing experts to change their forecasts regarding the reduction of the key rate.
It was previously assumed that the easing cycle could begin as early as the beginning of next year.
The Izvestia portal conducted an analysis of the current economic situation.
To this end, journalists interviewed experienced experts to find out their opinion. 11 out of 15 experts surveyed are of the opinion that the key rate will be reduced for the first time at the end of the first half of 2025.
However, the other four experts believe that the key rate will not be lowered before the second half of the year.
On October 31, Elvira Nabiullina said that raising the key rate is not a whim of the Central Bank. Tough measures are necessary to achieve the set goal of reducing inflation to 4%.
At the same time, the head of the regulator does not rule out that the rate could be raised to 23% in December. It is currently at 21%.
