People with disabilities and former military personnel with civilian service receive double the pension in Russia.
Double payments are provided for disabled pensioners and military personnel who have returned to civilian life, provided they have the required length of service.
Tatyana Podolskaya, head of the department of international economic relations at the South-Russian Institute of Management of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, told RIA Novosti about this.
She explained that two categories of citizens can now receive a double pension.
Payment of a double pension to disabled persons is provided for by law upon reaching retirement age.
This category of citizens can receive old-age and disability insurance pensions from the state.
Former military personnel receive payments from the Social Fund of the Russian Federation if they have civilian work experience.
Podolskaya also recalled that rural residents, Heroes of Labor, Chernobyl victims, and Group I disabled people receive special additional payments.
In Russia, 81.31 percent of pensioners receive an old-age pension. On average, this payment amounts to 22,418.8 rubles.
