An expert predicted an acceleration in the growth of fuel prices in Russia starting in January.
Leading analyst of the National Energy Security Fund Igor Yushkov shared a comment on this topic.
In a conversation withNEWS.ru , he said that fuel prices will begin to rise faster from January 2025.
The main reason is related to the increase in excise taxes on gasoline and diesel.
Yushkov noted that this factor has been the key driver of growth in retail fuel prices in recent years.
The expert added that the government will intervene in the situation only if fuel prices start to rise faster than the inflation rate.
He expects that, starting from the beginning of next year, prices at petrol stations will begin to change faster than in 2024.
In the meantime, the next price increase will occur on November 1. Thus, the cost of 92-octane gasoline will start at 54 rubles per liter.
