Bank mortgage rates will reach 50% in 2025 in the event of a global economic crisis.
This forecast was shared by Neomarkets chief analyst Oleg Kalmanovich.
He explained in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru that this option is possible in 2025 and subsequent years.
A protracted global economic crisis or less responsible monetary policy would trigger a 50:5 mortgage rate.
According to the expert, the probability of such events occurring is estimated at no more than 5%.
Kalmanovich recalled that in 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, interest rates in Russia remained at the same level.
At the end of October 2024, the Central Bank raised the key rate to 21% per annum.
Experts believe that the Central Bank will most likely raise the rate to 22-23% at its meeting in December.
If this happens, then in 2025 mortgage loans will increase to 28-30% and probably higher.
