An expert reported that sales of butter have sharply declined in Russia.
Over the course of a year, demand has fallen by more than forty percent.
Analyst Daria Zhigalina shared a comment on this topic in a conversation with TASS .
According to her, on average, butter purchases in Russia have decreased by 41% over the year compared to data for 2023.
Zhigalina noted that the drop in demand is due to the rise in price of this product.
Butter prices have risen due to an increase in its production costs.
The expert pointed out that producers have increased their costs for purchasing milk and milk fats, as well as for logistics and packaging.
High markups from retailers, including large chains, also played a role.
Manufacturers are refusing discounts due to high costs, the expert emphasized.
Russia imports butter. Belarus is considered the key supplier. In 2024, the republic supplied 89 tons of this product.
