Scientists have explained how global warming could affect the Russian economy.

An increase in average annual temperature by 1°C could lead to an increase in Russia’s GDP by 1.2 trillion rubles.

Experts named the beneficiary in this situation as the construction and related sectors, TASS reports.

Climate change will lead to the destruction of old buildings, which will stimulate activity among developers.

In addition, the launch of new projects and the development of logistics infrastructure near new facilities will bring the federal economy about 466 billion rubles per year.

Another area that could benefit from rising average temperatures is agriculture.

First of all, it is about grain income, the scientists explain. A 1°C increase in temperature will create even more favorable conditions for key crops.

This will increase production, which will lead to an increase in exports. And that's another 536 billion rubles.

Also, RAS scientists noted the great potential of the Northern Sea Route (NSR).

But not all sectors will benefit from warming. The fuel and energy complex, housing and utilities, and transport will suffer losses. As a result, the losses will amount to 2.45 trillion rubles, but at the same time, the income is estimated at 3.64 trillion rubles.
