Why Soak Potatoes Before Cooking

Potatoes are a source of starch, therefore, not as healthy when compared to other vegetables. This substance turns into glucose when digested, therefore, it is contraindicated for people with problems with blood sugar levels.

That is why it is better to soak the tuber before cooking. During the time that the peeled potatoes lie in water, some of the starchy masses will be washed out.

The correct way to do this is as follows:

  • wash the vegetables, peel them or leave them in the skin;
  • cut the potatoes into 4 pieces;
  • fill with water so that it completely covers the vegetables;
  • leave them in water for an hour.

If necessary, the procedure can be repeated to ensure that excess starch is removed.
