What to do if the aspic hasn't set overnight: a clever culinary trick

Kholodets is one of the most popular holiday dishes among Russians.

However, the technology for its preparation is often violated, which is why trouble occurs and the aspic does not harden.

Culinary expert of HERE NEWS, cook and fourth-class baker Yulia Arkhipova will share with you a culinary trick on how to fix the current situation.

What to do if the aspic has not set

The consistency of the broth indicates whether it has been prepared correctly.

If you put two fingers in it and rub them together, they will start to stick together. This means that the aspic will eventually harden without problems.

If the problem is discovered shortly before the guests arrive, then you cannot do without gelatin.

Proceed as follows:

  • transfer the finished dish into a saucepan, dissolve and boil to avoid souring;
  • stir powdered gelatin into warm water at a rate of 25 grams of the substance for each liter of broth;
  • wait 20 minutes for the gelatin to swell, add it to the cooling dish, pour into containers.

After such manipulations, the aspic will harden within 5-6 hours.
