Okroshka is the most popular summer soup among Russians.
There is an opinion that almost any ingredients can be added to it as a dressing.
Culinary expert of HERE NEWS, chef and fourth-class baker Yulia Arkhipova will tell you that this is a misconception and some ingredients in okroshka will definitely be unnecessary.
What ingredients should not be added
Let's start with the fact that the traditional okroshka recipe never included boiled sausage. Our ancestors prepared the dish with lean meat - beef or poultry, which made the dish much healthier.
The same goes for mayonnaise. Although this sauce has long been a traditional dressing for many dishes, it is inappropriate for okroshka. Mayonnaise can easily be replaced with low-fat yogurt or sour cream.
Meat and eggs do not go well together. If a person without digestive problems can eat a portion of okroshka with sausage and eggs without harm to health, then those who suffer from gastritis and other gastrointestinal problems may pay with indigestion.
