Are you a seafood lover and want to cook a delicious dish?
You will find frozen shrimp, both fresh and pre-cooked, in many stores.
You can use them to make many dishes with deep aroma and flavor. See if you need to defrost the shrimp.
Shrimp in the store - what to buy
Freshly frozen shrimp is the most common type of shrimp found in stores. Although it may seem like this form of storing food may change the taste, seafood actually “likes” it!
Frozen shrimp still taste great and retain all of their nutrients. They also don't get too soft, so they retain the right consistency.
However, it is worth looking for frozen raw shrimp rather than pre-cooked ones. The latter is more difficult to make a successful dish with, although not impossible!
Do you need to defrost shrimp before cooking?
As with fish and meat, shrimp also need to be defrosted before cooking. However, there is no particular concern here, it happens quite quickly.
You can speed up this process by placing the thawing shrimp in a pan of cold water. Do not increase the temperature or put the shrimp in the microwave or oven - it is definitely better to stew them the night before.
It is worth remembering that it is best to prepare defrosted shrimp immediately, because after lying in the refrigerator for several or several dozen hours, you may not like them later.
