When housewives prepare soups, they often think about the order in which to add ingredients to the dish.
If the recipe calls for both potatoes and rice in the soup, the question arises as to which ingredient should be added to the boiling water first.
Culinary expert of HERE NEWS, chef and fourth-class baker Yulia Arkhipova is ready to tell you what to add first.
Rice or potatoes: what goes first
Potatoes are most often added to both purely vegetable soups and dishes with meat broth.
However, there are also recipes that require adding both ingredients at once. And then the question arises, which one will cook faster.
Rice is a fairly tough grain and takes longer to cook than potatoes.
Therefore, the first thing you should put in the pot is the cereal. However, before doing this, do not forget to rinse the rice thoroughly.
After the cereal in the soup has boiled and simmered for five minutes, you can add the potatoes.
