The soup is very easy to prepare: just chop the vegetables and put them in a saucepan.
But in fact, not everything is as simple as it might seem at first glance.
Chef and culinary expert Yulia Arkhipova explained how to properly cut potatoes for soup.
How to cut potatoes
It would seem that there is no difference in how vegetables are cut. But this opinion is wrong.
After all, the shape of vegetables affects not only the appearance of the dish, but also its taste.
The method of cutting potatoes depends on what kind of soup this vegetable will be used for.
For example, in cabbage soup, potatoes should be cut into thin strips. Only the pieces should be uniform.
Then the potatoes will not drown out the taste of the cabbage. When preparing borscht, it is also better to cut the potatoes into strips.
But for pea soup, it is advisable to cut the potatoes into cubes. The size of the potatoes should be slightly larger than a pea.
The trick to making soup
When preparing broth, you can use one trick to make it clear.
To do this, the sliced potatoes must first be soaked. They must be placed in cold water for ten minutes.
This will remove excess starch. And after that, the potatoes can be sent to the pan.
