The shrimps turn out very tasty and aromatic, thanks to the spices in which they are cooked.
But to make sure your shrimp are tasty, pay attention to their color before buying them; they should be red-orange.
If they are quite dark with greenish impurities, then you cannot take such seafood, as they are spoiled, says Yulia Arkhipova .
No seasoning will improve their taste, so you need to take the choice of seafood seriously.
Frozen shrimp should be rinsed in cold water, then poured into a colander to drain off excess water and melt the ice.
Before cooking, you need to look at the crustaceans; if they are fiery orange, it means they were heat-treated before freezing.
Therefore, you should cook them for no more than 5 minutes, otherwise you will overcook them.
Shrimps that have a greyish tint have not been heat treated and need to be cooked longer, but no more than 10 minutes.
To prepare, you need to take:
- Shrimps – 300 g
- Lemon juice – 100 ml
- Salt – 2 tsp.
- Bay leaf – 1 pc.
- Pepper - a pinch
- Fresh dill
Take a medium sized saucepan, pour in about 2 liters of water, add salt and bring to a boil.
Once it boils, add all the ingredients except the dill and add the shrimp.
While they are cooking, chop the dill; it should be added a couple of minutes before the end of cooking.
Avoid overcooking shrimp as this will make them tasteless and tough.
Pour the finished shrimp into a colander, let the water drain and transfer to a plate.
Top with sprigs of fresh herbs and sliced lemon wedges to give the shrimp a more appetizing appearance.
If desired, you can serve any spicy sauce with the shrimp to make them even tastier and more aromatic. Serve this delicious dish chilled.
