How to cook cabbage rolls: we analyze the main mistakes

To prepare this delicious and filling dish you will need the following ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • Pork meat – 1 kg;
  • cabbage (large) – 1 head;
  • rice – 1 cup;
  • bulb;
  • carrot – 1 pc.;
  • sunflower oil – two spoons;
  • tomato paste or tomato juice;
  • wheat flour - two spoons;
  • granulated sugar;
  • ground black pepper;
  • sweet dry paprika;
  • ground coriander;
  • sour cream – to taste;
  • parsley.

The process of cooking the dish

First, you need to boil the cabbage. To do this, put the head of cabbage in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Then, separate the leaves and cut off the rough part to make it easier to roll, says Yulia Arkhipova .

If some leaves are not soft and elastic enough, they can be additionally boiled in the same water.

Now start preparing the mince. Take the meat, wash it well and cut it into pieces.

Next, pass the meat through a meat grinder, preferably twice.
Peel the onion and carrot. Chop the onion finely and grate the carrot.

Heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan and fry the chopped onion and grated carrot.

Rinse the rice well and cook in salted water until half cooked.

In a bowl, mix the meat, fried carrots with onions and boiled rice. Add a little salt, ground pepper, sweet paprika and coriander. Then knead the mince well.

Now take the cabbage leaves and put the required amount of stuffing into each one. Approximately, you will need about 2-1.5 tablespoons of stuffing for one leaf.

Roll the cabbage rolls and carefully place them tightly in the pan.

Pour boiling water over the cabbage rolls and put them on the stove. Cook on medium heat for about 40-30 minutes.

Afterwards, drain the water and prepare a sauce from tomato paste (5 spoons), flour, sugar and salt. Pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls and cook for another 5 minutes.

If desired, you can cook the cabbage rolls in the oven. To do this, place them tightly on a baking sheet, pour the sauce over them and cook for about an hour.
