Broccoli can be called one of the healthiest vegetables, because it contains many vitamins and useful minerals.
However, due to improper preparation and prolonged heat treatment, broccoli can lose its beneficial properties.
Therefore, it is worth considering several cooking methods to preserve the usefulness of the vegetable, says Yulia Arkhipova .
Soaring
Steaming is one of the healthiest ways to cook broccoli, as it retains most of its beneficial nutrients.
To do this, simply heat water in a saucepan, put it on a steamer and add broccoli. Steam the broccoli for 5-7 minutes until it becomes soft but still crispy.
Cooking
Boiling is a universal method, but it is worth being rational. Everyone should understand that due to long-term heat treatment, vegetables will definitely lose some of their useful substances.
Therefore, cooking should take no more than 3 minutes, the water should be salted beforehand. After cooking, the vegetables should be immediately placed in cold water. Thanks to this, they will retain their nutrients.
Frying
Frying is another option for cooking broccoli that allows you to preserve its beneficial properties if done correctly. To do this, it is recommended to use a minimum amount of oil and fry the broccoli over medium heat for no more than 5-7 minutes so that they become tender but do not lose their crunch.
Baking
Baking in the oven is also a popular cooking method. To do this, you need:
- cut into small pieces;
- place on a baking sheet;
- drizzle with olive oil;
- Sprinkle with spices to taste.
Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes at 200 degrees. After cooking, the broccoli should be immediately removed from the pan and transferred to a plate.
How to improve taste
To make the cooked vegetable more delicious, you can add various sauces and seasonings to it. For example, a light sauce based on Greek yogurt with the addition of garlic and lemon juice, or simply sprinkle broccoli with grated Parmesan or sesame seeds.
