To achieve softness, beets need to be cooked for several hours.

Chef, fourth-class baker, and culinary expert Yulia Arkhipova revealed how to cook beets in just five minutes.
Cooking in the microwave
First, wash the root vegetable and remove the tops.
Then place the vegetable in a baking sleeve and tie it tightly. You also need to make a couple of small holes in it.
Place the sleeve on a plate and put it in the microwave for five minutes.
After this time, do not take the beets out immediately. They should be left there for a few more minutes.
Just keep in mind that the cooking time for beets depends on various factors.
This method is suitable for small root vegetables. And the microwave oven should be set to a power of about 750-800 W.
If the vegetable is larger and the power of the appliance is lower, the beets will take a little longer to cook.
How else to cook beets
Beets can be baked in the oven. With this method of preparation, they will become soft in just 20 or 30 minutes.
The time is again affected by the size of the root vegetable. Wash the beets, cut off the tail and tops.
Then we wrap it in foil and put it in the oven for the time period specified above.
It is better to cook vegetables at a temperature of 190 degrees.
In addition, beets can be boiled for about half an hour and then covered with cold water. This will also make them softer faster.
