Beetroot ketchup

Have you ever thought about making natural ketchup from boiled beets and molasses?

This recipe is rich in vitamins, antioxidants, fiber and is very easy to prepare.

To make the beetroot taste more muted, which can be useful, for example, for those who have children at home, it is recommended to add a little organic tomato sauce to the preparation.

Ingredients:

  • 3 beets;
  • 1 apple;
  • 100 ml of water;
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar;
  • 3 tablespoons molasses;
  • 5 tablespoons organic tomato sauce;
  • salt to taste.

First, peel the beetroot, cut it into smaller pieces and boil it in a pot of water. When they are done, drain the water. Peel the apple, cut it into smaller pieces and put it in a blender. Add 100 ml of water and blend until you get juice. Pass this liquid through a sieve so that the juice is well strained.

Place the already cooked beets in a blender, add apple juice, vinegar, molasses and mix until smooth. Then add tomato sauce and salt to taste. Blend for a few more minutes until the ketchup is smooth. Transfer the mixture to a container and leave in the refrigerator. It's delicious and nutritious!

Note: If desired, you can also make carrot-beetroot ketchup. In this case, when mixing the ingredients in a blender, add peeled and grated carrots.

Guava Ketchup

The guava ketchup recipe is one of the most successful, as it is very sweet and goes well with various seasonings.

Here, instead of the fruit itself, you can use guava, which easily melts in the pan and gives a delicious sauce. To improve the recipe, you can use natural sugar (brown), as well as tomatoes, onions, garlic and spices.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tomatoes;
  • olive oil;
  • 1 onion, diced;
  • 3 crushed cloves of garlic;
  • 1 teaspoon cumin;
  • 1 teaspoon salt;
  • 1 tablespoon red wine;
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar;
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar;
  • 1/2 chili pepper, chopped;
  • 200g guava peel, diced.

First, you need to peel the tomatoes. Place them on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 15 minutes or until the skin starts to peel off. After this time, remove the tomatoes from the oven, wait until they cool, and peel them.

Pour some oil into the pan, add onion and a pinch of salt. Fry for a bit, then add chopped garlic. Stir a bit more, add cumin and peeled tomatoes.

Reduce heat, add a spoonful of salt and let the tomatoes cook for a little longer. When they start to fall apart, add red wine, brown sugar, vinegar, pepper, guava paste and stir until everything melts, forming a smooth sauce.

At the end of cooking, beat everything in a blender. Transfer the guava ketchup to a clean container and refrigerate. Done!
