Salads with mayonnaise, snacks and sweets along with alcohol cause an exacerbation of diseases after the New Year.

This was reported by nutritionist, endocrinologist, and teacher of dietetics in the educational project “ReForma” at the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis, Maira Rau.

She explained to RIA Novosti that numerous snacks during the holidays lead to sudden weight gain.

The traditional New Year's table includes many salads, appetizers, sausages, cheeses and sweets.

If you add alcoholic drinks to this, then after the holidays people not only gain extra pounds, but also suffer from an exacerbation of chronic diseases.

Rau explained that you shouldn’t give up your usual meals before a festive dinner.

Hunger accumulated during the day will lead to overeating, drinking too much and, as a result, swelling and malaise the next day.

To avoid exacerbation of chronic illnesses, the doctor advised avoiding overeating on New Year's Eve and not disturbing the water balance.
