All people have their own specific tea drinking habits.
Some people prefer hot tea, some add a lot of sugar, and some squeeze the tea bag.
Chef and culinary expert Yulia Arkhipova explained why the latter habit can be harmful and affect health.
Why you shouldn't do this
There are several reasons why you shouldn't squeeze a tea bag.
Firstly, there is a risk that in this case the bag will break. As a result, its contents may end up in the cup.
But this is the most harmless thing that can happen.
Secondly, when pressing, more tannins may enter the drink, which will make the tea taste more bitter.
It can also have a negative effect on tooth enamel.
In addition, if you squeeze the tea bag with your hands, various microbes can get into the tea.
Other harmful "tea" habits
You shouldn't steep the tea for more than 15 minutes. Otherwise, the drink will be too strong, which may not have the best effect on your well-being.
It is also not recommended to use yesterday's tea leaves for tea, as they are an ideal environment for the growth of various bacteria.
