What Floor to Choose for a Bedroom: Designer Tips

You spend most of your life in the bedroom, mainly for relaxation.

Its most important feature is, first of all, the bed, but since its character and purpose are different from other rooms, it is worth thinking twice about the choice of flooring for this room as well .

Bedroom Flooring - An Important Choice

Sleep is essential for the healthy and proper functioning of the body. Probably everyone knows the irritation associated with waking up from deep sleep with unbearable creaking and other noises. This illustrates well why choosing the right flooring for the bedroom is so important, says Yulia Tychino .

The atmosphere and arrangement of this room also contribute to relaxation. Usually, you make every effort to make the environment cozy and comfortable.

You spend a lot of time in your bedroom, but not usually on the floor. This means that the floor may be made of different, less durable materials than, for example, in the kitchen, hallway or living room.

When choosing it, less importance can be given to parameters such as resistance to abrasion or damage.

The above considerations say a lot about what characteristics a bedroom floor should have.

What flooring to choose for the bedroom

The floor in the bedroom should not creak and be soundproof so that the sound of feet stepping on it cannot be heard.

It would be warm to the touch: There is nothing worse than waking up, crawling out from under the covers and standing barefoot on an unpleasantly cool stone or concrete floor. For your health, it is also worth making sure that there is not too much dust on it, which can aggravate allergic reactions.

What material to choose for the floor in the bedroom

Tree

A timeless material, elegant and stylish, it will never be a bad choice, either from an aesthetic or functional point of view.

Depending on the selected type of wood, it is distinguished by decent durability (boards made from exotic trees such as merbau and teak are more durable).

Even after many years, it can withstand restoration procedures. The wood is warm and pleasant to the touch. It is a natural material, so it works under the influence of changing conditions.

Cork

An interesting choice for a bedroom is a floor made of cork boards covered with a vinyl layer. This type of parquet is excellent at reducing noise, it is elastic, and it is easy to walk on. It reflects heat and does not accumulate much dust, so it is very easy to keep clean.

Linoleum

Don't worry! Modern linoleum is significantly different from the material you remember from your childhood and grandma's kitchen.

It has gained a new look, and the many colors and patterns that imitate other popular materials only contribute to its growing popularity. Like wood, it is warm to the touch and flexible, although it does harden with age.

It fits well with heated floors and does not get dirty or dusty. An additional advantage of this solution is its affordable price.

Carpet floor coverings

This is a carpet that is soft to the touch. It insulates heat and sound, but unfortunately requires frequent vacuuming. Like classic rugs, they are a nightmare breeding ground for dust. Keeping them clean can be labor-intensive. The recommended type of carpet for the bedroom is wool: durable, pleasant to the touch, does not pill.

Laminated panels

One of the most commonly used floor coverings in interiors.

They are more durable and require less maintenance than traditional wood floors, and are much less expensive.

There is a wide range of panels on the market - their choice mainly depends on the effect you intend to achieve.

A wide range of colours and finishes allow you to create a floor that mimics the appearance of even a wooden floor. Laminate collects dust and resonates with sound, especially when the boards are floating. This can be counteracted by choosing the appropriate insulating base.
