Properly decorating a room with a low ceiling is not as easy as it might seem at first glance.
Because of certain mistakes, the ceiling in this case will seem even lower.
Expert in interior design and interior design Yulia Tychino explained what solutions should be avoided in the interior of such premises.
Contrasting colors
Contrasting finishing is definitely not suitable for low and small rooms.
After all, in this case the room will seem even smaller.
Therefore, there should not be a strong contrast between the walls, ceiling and floor.
The room will visually appear higher and more spacious if the boundaries between different parts are almost invisible.
For example, the shade of the walls can be similar to the color of the ceiling, and the floor will be only a couple of tones darker.
Huge chandelier
A massive lamp will look appropriate only in a spacious room with a fairly high ceiling.
In other cases, this decision can hardly be called successful.
So, in rooms with low ceilings, it is better not to hang multi-tiered chandeliers.
For such a room, laconic lampshades or small built-in lamps are suitable.
Wrong lines
It is believed that vertical lines can visually make a room higher. And because of horizontal lines, the room will seem wider.
Therefore, for rooms with low ceilings, it is better to choose the first option.
Moreover, this concerns not only stripes on the walls, but other elements, in particular patterns on textiles, paintings, furniture silhouettes, etc.
So a good solution in this case would be tall furniture on legs, striped patterns, floor lamps or elongated lamps.
