General - most often it is a chandelier on the ceiling. The main goal is to fully illuminate the room. It is important to create a directional light source. The higher the ceiling lamp is located, the more light it gives.
It does not have to be placed in the center. In order for it to illuminate the entire space in the kitchen evenly, you will have to take into account the location of the kitchen unit and refrigerator.
Surface mounted lights are also suitable for general lighting in the kitchen. When hanging them, you should also remember about the location of the kitchen furniture. The lighting should not be too bright or too dim.
Accent - standard lighting adds brightness to the room, as well as shadows. Shadows can be hidden if the work area is properly illuminated. Accents are used to make the area comfortable for work.
The work area is illuminated on two levels:
1. The first level is the ceiling. Built-in spotlights or surface-mounted lights are used here.
2. The second level is located under the wall cabinets. This is linear lighting that evenly illuminates the space. It is permissible to install LED strip here. You can also hang lamps or shades. They differ in color, texture, intensity, brightness.
Decorative - this lighting creates coziness in the kitchen, so it should be diffused. You can hang a lamp with a lampshade above the table, preferably one that is adjustable.
Or hang a wall lamp on the wall if the kitchen table is located next to the wall. Make sure that the lamp does not create inconvenience - does not shine in the eyes.
It is better to choose lamps in the same style and from the same material. Lamps give cold, warm and neutral light.
Warm or neutral light is suitable for the kitchen interior, it gives warmth and coziness. But you cannot use different lamps in one room.
