The loft style, which has recently become a real highlight in the design of interiors of residential and office premises, is the latest fashion trend.
In the western part of our globe, the loft style has long been considered common, but in the post-Soviet countries it is not yet in demand.
Many designers often compare the loft style with minimalism. And this is not surprising, because the design in this style implies a minimum amount of furniture, modesty and at the same time a flashy design, says Yulia Tychino .
For example, in a room with high ceilings, a huge area and wide windows, sometimes even covering the entire wall, there can be only one sofa, which must necessarily attract attention due to its original, flashy color or shape.
The loft style necessarily requires large windows, preferably floor-to-ceiling, and the absence of any curtains or drapes that could prevent light from entering the room.
The maximum that is allowed in such an interior is blinds, which can be either horizontal or vertical.
We decorate the walls
Loft-style walls are necessarily concrete or exposed brick, because this is what many people associate with abandoned spaces and attics.
If we are talking about a new apartment or house, for example, it is not necessary to return the walls to their original appearance.
It is enough to use modern building materials that will help to imitate masonry.
It would also be ideal to paint the walls in the room with a light emulsion, which will allow you to bring a lot of light and spaciousness into the interior.
For kitchens and bathrooms in loft style, mosaic tiles are most often used not only on the walls, but also on the floor and even on the ceiling.
It is advisable to choose one color shade for this, which will give the room a sense of unity.
A minimum of walls and zoning with the help of light partitions and furniture is another feature of the loft style.
However, as mentioned above, the furniture must be modern and in almost any style. Ideally, antique shelves, chairs, tables and metal beds with a light design and simple geometric shape will serve as partitions.
Loft style floor
A floor covered with floorboards or laminate that imitates wear and tear and antiquity will perfectly emphasize the overall style of the room.
The best look is a bare plank floor, which can be achieved, for example, by covering the old floor with regular varnish. However, if you put an oxhide or a few flokati rugs on the floor, this will give the room even more appeal.
Windows and textile additions
Window frames and baseboards in the room should either be painted in a color that blends with the overall design, or made of natural wood.
Textiles are not the least important in decorating rooms in this style. We will leave silk and simple chintz for other purposes - in the future, fleece, leather and suede.
The best thing you can think of to implement the idea in the loft style is a combination of the flashy with the rough. A cage, fabric with a large and expressive pattern, as well as imitation of zebra and leopard colors will be appropriate in the interior of this style.
Cashmere, alpaca, suede, soft jersey - all this is pleasant to the touch and ideal for decorating an attic home.
