Getting Rid of a Squeaky Floor
To prevent the floor covering from squeaking, several proven methods are used:
- talc, which is poured into the "noisiest" place;
- dry wood lubricant;
- mounting foam;
- wedges between dried out boards;
- plywood before laying the floor covering.
However, there are other methods to deal with annoying creaking.
For example, some experts advise increasing the humidity in the house. Then the floorboards will swell and stop creaking.
In addition, if the reason is the contact between the joist and the floorboard, then self-tapping screws, which are used to secure the floorboards, will also help.
