A room on the sunny side: here's what you need to consider when renovating and decorating

At first glance, it seems that a room on the sunny side has nothing but advantages and no disadvantages.

There are indeed many positive aspects: light, warm, cozy. But there are some nuances here that are worth considering.

Designer Yulia Tychino spoke about them in an interview with the online publication TUT NOVOSTI.

When planning a renovation in such a room, it is recommended to choose finishing materials that are resistant to fading.

For example, paper, non-woven or vinyl wallpapers are not suitable for such rooms. If you need a long-lasting result, then you should give preference to liquid or glass wallpapers.

Paint can also be a great option.

Tables, cabinets and other “hard” furniture should be protected from direct sunlight if it is made of MDF or varnished.

For the sunny side, the best option is light wood (except pine) and chairs made of artificial rattan.

There are also nuances with upholstered furniture. Blue, light blue and violet sofas and armchairs fade badly in the sun. White ones turn yellow over time.

Leather sofas are also not recommended to be placed where there is a lot of sunlight. The best option is products made of thick fabric.

Also, forget about white tulle. It will turn yellow over time.

Also, photographs, books, paintings, and figurines fade under the sun's rays.
