Sometimes owners of predatory pets catch them when their animals start eating grass.
This habit is observed not only in dogs, but also in cats.
Veterinarians consider this behavior of pets to be absolutely natural and caused by the following reasons.
Eating grass causes a gag reflex in animals. In this way, the dog tries to get rid of the contents of its stomach.
It is also believed that eating grass is part of the animal's instincts. It is possible that dogs simply like the juicy taste.
Some herbs, such as alfalfa, lemon balm, parsley, mint, oats are useful for dogs. They contain vitamins and minerals that the animal may lack if its diet is unbalanced.
However, there are also herbs that dogs should not eat. These include:
- tulips;
- daffodils;
- dandelions;
- hydrangeas;
- azaleas;
- rhododendrons.
In case of poisoning, the dog must be taken to the veterinarian immediately.
