Cats never cease to amaze people with many of their habits and behavior.
In particular, people have always been interested in why furry pets are afraid of water like fire.
There are a number of reasons for this that you might not have realized.
Why are cats afraid of water
In fact, our furry pets are not afraid of liquid. They do not like the consequences that washing entails.
In particular, cats do not like bathing for the following reasons:
- Risk of hypothermia or overheating. The undercoat is responsible for thermoregulation, so our pets are usually not too hot or cold. And water nullifies this process.
- Imposing hygiene procedures. A person decides for a cat when it should wash itself, and it resists this with all its might.
- Enhancement of natural odor. Wet fur smells much stronger, which in nature makes hunting for game impossible.
In addition, bathing causes the natural oils responsible for the shine and silkiness of the fur to be washed off from the fur, and then dirt and bacteria begin to stick to the luxurious hair, which the animal is not happy about either.
