What smells can scare away cats: never let your pets smell them

Cats' sense of smell is several times more sensitive than humans'.

It is useful to use this wisely to correct the animal's behavior.

Essential oils

The aromas of essential oils are quite pleasant for humans, but not for cats. They especially do not like the smells of rosemary and lavender. For greater effectiveness, it is better to mix them.

To prepare a repellent composition, mix 2-3 drops of 2-3 essential oils in 1 liter of water. Shake thoroughly.

Pour the resulting solution into a spray bottle and spray it, especially on your cats' favorite spots. Or soak cotton pads in it and place them where your pet's paw should no longer step.

Citrus aromas

They say they invigorate and energize, but for some reason cats can't stand them. Citrus fruits include oranges, pomelo, lemons, tangerines, and grapefruits.

The easiest way is to peel the fruit and spread its peel in certain places. The cat won't come near it. Or squeeze the juice out of half a citrus and pour the solution into a spray bottle.

It is enough to spray it once, but when the smell disappears, the procedure will have to be repeated.

Black pepper

If black pepper gets on the mucous membrane of the nose, a person will sneeze. It happens with cats in approximately the same way, so they do not sniff pepper - they are afraid.

You can't sprinkle pepper in powder form - it's dangerous for your pet. You need to pour a little pepper into a bag or packet so that you can only smell it.

Lavender

This could be a sachet for a linen closet, or a hand-picked and dried bouquet.

The main component is lavender, the smell of which cats do not like. Conveniently, this cute bouquet will be pleasant to look at.

Onion

Perhaps, the smell of freshly chopped onions is not to the liking of not only humans, but also cats. Grate the onion, put it on a saucer in the places where cat vandalism is committed. This is convenient to do when leaving home for a long time.

Before doing this, make sure that the pet really does not like the smell. And it will not even try to taste the "bait" out of interest. This can be dangerous for the animal.
