- the male is larger and calmer, but he smells stronger;

Breed
The most popular are Syrian and Djungarian hamsters.
Syrian hamsters are considered the largest among their brethren, and with proper care they can live up to 4 years.
It is believed that this breed is the only one that responds to its name.
Djungarian hamsters are more miniature, so they are not suitable for families with small children.
In addition, they are quite shy and can bite.
