Real Poison: What Medicines from Your Home Medicine Cabinet Should Never Be Given to Dogs

Sometimes pet owners are faced with the fact that their four-legged friends get sick.

It is not always possible to contact a specialist or go to a specialized pharmacy.

However, you shouldn’t resort to your home medicine cabinet: many human medications are real poison for animals.

What you shouldn't give your dog

Antidepressants won't calm your dog down. These drugs make your pet's heart work at its limit and can even cause seizures.

The same goes for sleeping pills. Not only will the effect be the opposite, but the drugs can also depress the dog's lungs.

Any medications containing paracetamol can also be fatal because they suppress the liver and disrupt the circulatory system.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs cause severe liver and kidney damage, which can result in the death of the dog.

Also, do not give contraceptives under any circumstances, as the animal will be poisoned by them.
