Cat owners have probably noticed more than once how much their animals love to eat grass.
Sometimes, in their desire to feast on greenery, they are ready to destroy all indoor flowers.
Let's figure out whether it is possible and necessary to give grass to cats.
Why does a cat eat grass
Despite the fact that furry pets are predators, sometimes they are drawn to greenery.
The reasons are as follows:
- Grass causes a gag reflex. When a cat has too much hair in its stomach, it tries to get rid of it, and this is one of the ways.
- Grass contains nutrients. The vitamins and minerals in its composition are necessary for the cat's body.
However, it is important to understand that for a domestic cat that is not allowed outside, the quality of the grass is also important.
It is better to make a small lawn for your pet on the windowsill by buying special seeds than to bring a bunch of grass from the street. In the latter case, it may contain dangerous pesticides and parasites.
Earlier we wrote that it is absolutely forbidden to give to cats.
