Let's figure out what symptoms indicate that your parrot is unwell.
When is it time to go to the vet?
There are several common symptoms that indicate illness in birds.
These include:
- Changes in behavior. This is usually noticeable to the naked eye: the bird loses interest in food, moves less and makes less noise.
- Lack of coordination. If the parrot has difficulty climbing up and sitting on the perch, this is a reason to contact a specialist.
- Malaise. The bird breathes frequently and with difficulty, sneezes, trembles, gets scared, etc.
- Changes in droppings. If the diet has not changed, but the bird has changes in feces or urine, you should not delay visiting a specialist.
Excessive growth of the beak and claws, change in feather color and feather loss can also indicate that the bird is sick.
In any case, only a specialist can establish the correct diagnosis, and therefore, if any of the above symptoms are detected, you should contact a veterinarian.
