Many people know that both large and small representatives of parrot species are capable of learning to speak, regardless of gender and age.
But not all members of the same species have the same ability to pronounce words.
If you want to achieve results, it will be easier to teach a young bird to speak. Its attention and activity are increased, it will follow what is happening around, how people speak, with what intonations, what sounds are heard in general, react to radio or TV programs.
Such a parrot must be tame, that is, it must get used to living next to people, consider them its own. For lessons, you need to choose a specific time and strictly adhere to the schedule, one lesson can last a maximum of 45-50 minutes up to 5 times a day.
Before the lesson begins, take the bird to a separate room where you will not be distracted by extraneous sounds.
If you want to teach a bird to whistle a certain melody or pronounce words, always repeat them in the same way, with the same intonation. Your speech should be smooth and clear.
The parrot should also try to repeat after you clearly and loudly.
Once you have memorized the first couple of phrases or a line from a song, you can move on to putting words together into sentences. The key here is to be persistent and have a lot of patience.
Then everything will work out. It is better to start with small words or even syllables, remember how little children are taught to speak.
If the bird repeats everything correctly, praise it, let it know that you are pleased, and treat it to something tasty.
At first you will get short words, then whole phrases. A good result is obtained if in the morning before feeding the parrot, you pronounce one word together.
According to scientists, birds best distinguish several vowels - a, o, and consonants - p, k, t, r. Higher female voices are easier for them to perceive.
Try learning some greeting, such as saying "hello" when you arrive and "goodbye" when you leave.
A young, intelligent individual will get used to it quite quickly and will understand your instructions. But you must encourage it and constantly improve the results obtained. You can, in the old-fashioned way, play a recording of your conversation on a tape recorder, but it is rarely used now.
It is easier to buy or record a special disk, this greatly simplifies training. But still, this method is less effective than direct contact with a person, when the bird communicates with you.
Don't be upset if your budgie refuses to talk. Some individuals cannot learn to talk. Grey parrots are also very capable, they can repeat and learn up to 225 words, use them in semantic constructions.
