Receiving a reward is the most important thing in training a cat.
Using any treat as a reward will make training as enjoyable as possible.
By following five simple, sequential steps, you can teach your cat to give you a paw.
Step one
Start by showing or shaking the bag of treats to the cat sitting next to you.
This way you will attract your pet's attention.
Step two
Hold the treat in your hand where your cat can see it and let her sniff it.
Usually cats try to touch what is in their hands. And mark this action with a positive reaction, a click, and then a treat.
Repeat this process several times.
Step three
Whenever your cat touches your palm with its paw, add your chosen phrase and reward.
Step four
Once your cat learns to touch your hand on request, change the position of your palm.
Show your pet an open palm and say your request.
Repeat these steps until your cat starts giving you a paw consistently.
