How to calculate the age of a cat
In order to understand how old an animal is in terms of human age, there is an approximate calculation algorithm.
15 years are added to the first year of a pet's life, 10 to the second, that is, by the second year of a cat's life, it is approximately the same age as a fully formed person who is 25 years old.
Each subsequent year is equal to approximately four years of a person's life.
The following calculations clearly demonstrate this formula:
- 1 month of kitten's life = 6 months of child's life;
- 1 year of a cat = 18 years of a human;
- 3 years = 29-30 years;
- 10 years = 60 years;
- 16 years = 84 years.
We remind you that these figures are conditional and depend on genetics, the cat's health and other factors that affect longevity. To determine the most accurate age, it is better to show the animal to the veterinarian.
