During the period of seasonal colds and acute respiratory viral infections, you should worry not only about your family and friends.

Your pet can also catch a cold.

Symptoms

Surprisingly, the symptoms of a cold in cats are practically no different from the signs of the disease in humans.

The animal begins to sneeze, and discharge appears from the nose and eyes.

In addition, a cat's cold may be accompanied by enlarged lymph nodes, conjunctivitis, and mouth ulcers. One of the atypical symptoms that may also appear is called anorexia.

How to treat a cat

As with humans, colds are usually not a cause for concern and go away on their own.

However, if you see that your pet is getting worse and, for example, because of nasal discharge, the cat cannot breathe normally, you need to start rinsing its nose.

In this case, it is permissible to use saline solutions.

Please note: To avoid the possibility of influenza or another, more serious respiratory disease, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian.
