Cat behavior can be a real mystery to people.
Often, owners of furry animals notice that they hardly drink water.
Let's figure out whether this behavior is normal or a cause for concern.
Dependence on the type of feed
A cat's need for fluid directly depends on the type of food it eats.
If the animal's diet consists exclusively of dry food, then the cat should drink 2-3 times more water than it ate dry granules.
If your pet eats wet food, which is 80% moisture (we are talking about sauce-based food), then the need for water is significantly reduced.
And if you feed your cat exclusively natural products, including kefir, broths and various gravies in the animal’s diet.
If your cat only eats dry food and does not drink, this is indeed a cause for concern.
In the other two cases, it can get the necessary moisture from food. However, you still need to make sure that clean water is always available to the animal.
