Very often pets beg their owners for candy, a bun or a cookie.
Sometimes it seems that it is simply impossible to refuse animals. But are we doing the right thing by giving in to our pets?
There are different opinions on this matter. Some researchers claim that dogs should not have sweets. They are predators by nature, that is, they should eat meat products.
Excessive amounts of carbohydrates can lead to the following consequences:
• to obesity (since sweet foods take a long time to digest);
• to tooth decay;
• to allergic reactions;
• to dysfunctions of the pancreas and liver.
The most dangerous are chocolate, baked goods, and citrus fruits, which can even lead to poisoning.
In case of poisoning, you should immediately wash out the stomach: give warm water to drink and induce vomiting.
Some researchers say that dogs can still have sweets in small quantities. But they should be fed with special products. They can be purchased at pet stores. Fruits are also useful: pears, bananas, melons and watermelons. They contain many vitamins and nutrients.
Thus, dogs can still have sweets, but in small quantities and from pet stores.
