It is very important to choose the right dog breed for yourself. Important factors play a role: the size of the animal, its activity, its fur, and so on.

First of all, it is worth understanding that any animal will limit the freedom of its owner.

The pet needs the following:

  1. Time;
  2. Mode;
  3. Expenses.

As soon as a person buys a dog, all this has to be shared with it. But in order for the coexistence of the owner with his animal to be as comfortable as possible, it is necessary to study some points, based on which the breed is chosen.

Floor

Before deciding on a breed, you need to choose a gender. Boys and girls have different personalities and behave differently.
The male is suitable for cynology, will be good in sports. But training will be lame in comparison with the female. The thing is that males want to dominate, so they follow orders reluctantly.

Age

If the future owner has enough time, it is better to take a puppy. A baby 2-3 months old will be perfect.

At this age, the puppies can already eat on their own, are ready for vaccinations and separation from their mother. And from childhood, the owner will be able to raise the pet for himself. But you need to prepare for the fact that for some time the apartment will be in puddles and piles, and the dog child will be naughty.

Taking an adult dog means agreeing that its character has already been formed. But there are also advantages: less time needs to be spent on an adult dog, and problems with walking are solved almost immediately.

Temperament

In order to get a dog, you need to assess your capabilities. You should choose a pet for yourself. An active Dalmatian is unlikely to suit homebodies. And an athlete will not be able to spend active time in the company of a pug.

If a person is active, likes to take long walks, spend time outdoors, then a husky would suit him, for example.

A homebody would be better off with a phlegmatic breed, say, a chow chow.

For those who are often away from home, a breed that can withstand loneliness is suitable: the Shar Pei.

And if the future owner wants to constantly bathe in mutual love with the pet, then a lapdog is perfect for him.

Living space

It is worth soberly assessing your capabilities according to this criterion. It is unlikely that a St. Bernard will be comfortable in a small family.

A small breed dog will feel good in a small living space: a Spitz, a Chihuahua, a Yorkshire Terrier, a miniature poodle.

You can also let a larger breed into a large apartment. But it is preferable that it is not very active.

For active dogs like Malamutes and Huskies, a house with an aviary is more suitable.

Family composition

If a family person gets a dog, it should be a collective decision. The dog should suit everyone.
For families with children, nanny dogs are suitable: collie, retriever, labrador.

Small breeds are suitable for growing children, which should not be done by families with small children.

Pensioners are less active, so they will not be able to afford an active dog. They need a dog that will walk well on a leash, calm, and does not require long active walks. Decorative breeds are perfect.

Length of hair

The difficulty of caring for it also depends on its fur. Fluffy animals constantly pick up dirt, and in rainy weather this will cause a lot of trouble. Their appearance must be looked after very carefully.

When choosing a dog, the shedding process can be quite an important criterion. It is logical to choose a short-haired breed with minimal shedding, especially if there is no time for careful care.

Breed group

It is known that dogs are divided into groups that may be suitable depending on the type of activity, type of occupation of the person.

For hunting enthusiasts, such breeds as spaniel, dachshund, beagle, greyhound, Russian piebald hound and so on are suitable. It depends on the type of prey that the hunter most often pursues.

Completely different breeds are suitable for guarding a house: the Caucasian Shepherd, the Moscow Watchdog.

Companions: lapdogs, poodles, Pekingese, Dalmatians, Shih Tzu. But remember that all companions can't stand loneliness.
