The head of Chechnya condemned those who want to ban Muslim women from wearing hijabs.
Ramzan Kadyrov made a statement on this topic during a meeting in Grozny, a recording of which was published on the politician’s Telegram channel.
The Chechen leader called those who advocate a ban on wearing the hijab his personal enemies.
At the same time, Kadyrov is against women wearing the burqa, which covers the face.
The politician noted that many guests of different faiths come to Chechnya. Their clothes do not bother the regional authorities. They look at how the residents of Chechnya dress.
Kadyrov emphasized that the authorities are not punishing, but simply calling on women to wear headscarves.
"Those who say not to wear hijabs are the enemies of Islam. <...> If someone tells my daughter to take off her hijab, I will kill him immediately, shoot him, whoever it is," said the head of the Russian region.
In Russia, they are discussing a ban on wearing a burqa (niqab) in public places. This option is considered a stricter element of a Muslim woman's wardrobe than a hijab. A burqa hides the figure and face. A hijab is a scarf that covers the neck to the chin, ears and hair.
