Volodin: Foreign agents will no longer be able to enrich themselves at Russia's expense
The Chairman of the State Duma announced the development of specific measures that will become an obstacle for foreign agents enriching themselves at the expense of Russia and its citizens.
Vyacheslav Volodin explained the work in this direction in his Telegram channel.
To date, 493 people have been recognized as foreign agents in the Russian Federation, the State Duma speaker reported.
Many of them have left the country, but continue to earn money through intellectual activity and brands.
In some cases, the amount of one payment reaches several tens of millions of rubles.
Now foreign agents and those who transfer funds to them will be required to open special accounts.
The owners will be able to use the money received on them only after the foreign agent status is removed, Volodin explained.
The state may also decide to confiscate funds in favor of the federal budget. This will require a court decision.
Before this, the authorities introduced a law according to which individual entrepreneurs and legal entities of the Russian Federation were prohibited from placing advertisements on the resources of foreign agents.
This measure led to the fact that in the first half of 2024, the income of the ten largest foreign agent bloggers decreased by 75%, the State Duma Chairman reported.
