The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, reported that violations were found at the gas station on the outskirts of Makhachkala where the explosion occurred.
According to Melikov, the problems in question were subsequently corrected.
The official emphasized: “We managed to find violations, but it must be said that they were brought under control and eliminated,” as reported by TASS .

The head of the region also emphasized that in 2023, a decree was issued for more than 230 gas stations.
In particular, this concerns the order to suspend the work of institutions due to various violations.
Melikov added: “We published orders of this kind after the explosion near a gas station near the suburbs of Makhachkala on August 14, 2023.”
After some time, more than 130 petrol stations resumed their operations.
