Vedernikov: Pskov Region Ready to Accept Russians Deported from Latvia

The Governor of the Pskov Region, Mikhail Vedernikov, announced that his region is ready to provide assistance to Russians who are threatened with deportation from Latvia.

It is indicated that Russian citizens may be subject to the relevant response measures after the adoption of amendments to the Latvian immigration law.

Vedernikov emphasized: “In connection with these circumstances, we are ready to provide all necessary assistance to our compatriots,” as reported by RIA Novosti .

The mayor noted the fact that accommodation points for displaced persons are almost ready.

Vedernikov recalled that his region had been providing support to newcomers for two years.

According to the governor, the settlers were helped to complete documents and find employment.

The official noted: "We have a mechanism of targeted support. In the case of people coming from Latvia, it will also be effective."

In June 2024, the Latvian parliament approved the requirement for immigrants to pass a Latvian language exam in order to extend their residence permit.
