The lower house of the Russian parliament has released information that the State Duma may consider an amendment to increase the length of service for new citizens of the Russian Federation by the end of the session.
It is emphasized that the amendment proposes extending the service period to two years.
The lower house of the Russian parliament emphasized: “The initiative assumes strengthening control over the performance of military duties,” as reported by RIA Novosti .
Along with the increase in the length of service, the conscription age may be increased.
It is indicated that the corresponding proposal was made by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation last week.
These amendments were presented as part of the initiation of a program to improve migration legislation.
During the SPIEF-2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that today the country does not have a meaningful migration policy.
The head of state pointed out the need to create comfortable conditions for migrants that would not create obstacles for Russians in everyday life and in the labor market.
