State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov criticized the high prices for tickets to the Bolshoi Theater.
In his opinion, such prices are “shameless” and make the theatre inaccessible to the majority of Russians.
Milonov told Vechernyaya Moskva that the Ministry of Culture is obliged to intervene and resolve the issue with ticket prices.
Tickets to the Bolshoi Theatre can only be purchased by those who can afford large expenses, the deputy emphasized.
He added that for an ordinary family, prices in other theaters are more affordable, while the quality of productions is not inferior to the Moscow theater.
Milonov also stressed that the Bolshoi Theatre is a state institution, where ticket prices should be reasonable.
This is not a private shop where they can demand any price for their ticket,” he added.
Milonov suggested that the Ministry of Culture pay attention to prices so that theaters remain accessible to all citizens.
