The State Duma has proposed amending the existing law “On Physical Culture and Sports in the Russian Federation.”
According to the initiative, the duties of Russian athletes may be supplemented by the requirement to know the Russian anthem by heart.
The second responsibility that will fall on the shoulders of an athlete in the event of inclusion in the list of candidates for membership in the national team is that the athlete will have to take an additional oath.
It is expected that Russian athletes will take the oath in a solemn atmosphere.
The authors of the bill consider this a necessary measure, since famous athletes from the Russian Federation are idols for young people. Therefore, they should set a good example for their followers and instill in them a sense of pride in their homeland.
