There is an acute shortage of cemeteries and crematoriums in Russia.
Deputy Chairperson of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Public Utilities Svetlana Razvorotneva drew attention to this problem.
She explained that in order to solve this problem, it is planned to build new funeral facilities with the involvement of businesses, writesthe Parliamentary Newspaper .
The bill will allow businesses to build funeral facilities using a public-private partnership system.
Razvorotneva noted that the current Federal Law “On Burial and Funeral Services” from 1996 is outdated.
According to the document, only municipal organizations can currently carry out burials.
According to Razvorotneva, it is impossible to attract private capital and investment into this area, although it is extremely necessary.
She sees a solution to the problem through amendments to the law that allow the construction of funeral facilities within the framework of a public-private partnership.
