Vladimir Putin's press secretary commented on the situation surrounding deepfakes.
The Kremlin's official representative stressed that introducing liability for such actions is a logical step.
Dmitry Peskov gave this comment to journalists, RIA Novosti reports.
Media representatives ask the press secretary current questions regarding deepfakes and the fight against them.
It is noted that relevant legislation may soon be adopted that provides for punishment for offenses related to deepfakes.
Peskov noted that he had already encountered the actions of fraudsters, and therefore introducing liability for their actions is a logical and correct measure.
The Kremlin spokesman also stressed that, unfortunately, there are currently no technologies that could protect citizens from the consequences of criminals' actions.
At the same time, Peskov noted, the relevant departments are carrying out appropriate work to protect Russian citizens from the actions of criminals.
